“The Lord is my shepherd…”
Christians all over the globe can finish this verse in thousands of languages.
But those of us who live in modern places, far away from agrarian life, have a bit of a disconnect with these words. Seriously, when was the last time you spent time around a shepherd and sheep? When was the last time you even saw a sheep?!
But as we learn about the work of the Good Shepherd in our lives, we learn that no other word will do. The Lord is our Shepherd!
Our shepherd calls us by name. He goes before us and leads us. He gives us life to the fullest. Our Shepherd loves His sheep to the degree that He would even lay down His life for us.
Or to sum it all up in one word, our Shepherd saves His sheep.
Our work is to listen to Him. To know Him. To follow Him.
