Following Jesus is a life of great assurance and great mystery.
If we want assurance of eternal life and confidence in prayer, God has gladly given it in his promises.
If we want every ‘i’ dotted and every ‘t’ crossed and every mystery solved, then there are aspects of life in Christ, such as prayer and loving our fellow believers, that will leave us frustrated.
God wants his children to be assured and confident about all of the most important things, and our text today points us in that direction.
God wants us to be as concerned about others’ obedience as we are our own, and that can be difficult. But God gives us love and a heart of prayer.
