The biggest, most frustrating gap in our lives is the gap between what we know and what we do. We know the good but do the bad. We know the bad we should avoid, but do it anyway. The knowing doing gap is so frustrating!
But Scripture keeps pointing us in that direction, to really knowing what we know and acting on it.
This morning in our last passage in 1 John, John gives us three statements that start with “We know”. These three “we know” affirmations serve as summaries of much of what came before in 1 John. But they lead us to what seems like a strange way for John to end his letter, with the command to guard ourselves from idolatry.
What the connection?
How can it help us close the gap?
