This morning we take a look at Jesus’ command that also comes with a warning.

“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16)

“Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven” (6:1)

Let your works be seen for the glory of God.

Do not do your works in order to be seen, or that’s all the reward you will get!

What we do goes hand in hand with how and why we do it. There is a way to do good works that gives praise to the Father, and he will reward that work. There is a way to do good works that gives praise to us, and that will be our reward.
