This morning is the last Sunday for our “Those Who Know Your Name” sermon series. The series title was taken from Psalm 9:10, “Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” When we know who God is, we trust him and desire to seek him more. We have looked at many of the names and titles of God and pray that our faith in him has grown and our desire to seek him has deepened.
This morning we will look at what is possibly the most well-known five word sentence in all of Scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd”. A good shepherd does so much for his sheep, and the Lord the Great Shepherd. He guides, provides, restores, protects and so much more. It is up to us to simply realize that we are sheep with a great need that he is more than willing to fill and to trust him for everything we need. The amazingly good news Scripture will show us is that God will go to the greatest of lengths to be our shepherd, even to the point of laying down his life as our lamb.
